ARTS CONSORTIUM OF CARVER COUNTY (ACCC)
HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR ART FOR SALE AT THE ACCC ARTS CENTER

AFTER your work has been accepted for an Exhibit, follow these steps to submit your work for the Exhibit.
Any ACCC Member with artwork in our Gift Shop or in an Exhibit who works 6+ hours in the Arts Center in a given month will earn an extra 10% commission on the sale of their work for that month.  See the Exhibitions at the Arts Center page for future shows.
STEP 1 – First read the Gallery Standard Categories and Guidelines. Determine your category, you will need this for Step 4. Make sure you understand all of the guidelines, for example, your work must include wire on the back for hanging.
STEP 2 – Confirm that your ACCC Membership is current. We have an integrated Membership system, please go to the Account page. Login to verify your Membership is current. If you haven’t logged into your new ACCC Membership Account yet, start by requesting a password on the Account page.
STEP 3 – Directory Listing. ACCC Member Artists are strongly encouraged to have a complete Directory Listing on the ACCC website if you are participating in a show or event. All Members are automatically added to the Directory for their specific genre on the ACCC website. Go to the Directory for your genre and search your name. Make sure all of your information is complete. Our Directory allows for multiple images of your work, links to all of your social media profiles, your website, phone number, profile image as well as a detailed description. To make any edits to your Directory listing, log into your Account from the Account page.  Your Directory Listing will remain on our website as long as you are a current ACCC Member. This is a benefit of Membership and not show/program-specific. Your Directory Listing allows us to promote you year-round, it shows the strength of our Membership to the community and helps us when we submit grant applications.
STEP 4 – Complete the ART Intake Form either by downloading the blank form and printing it, OR, fill it in online with our Fillable ART Intake Form, SAVE it to your computer, then attach to an email and send it to giftshop@artsofcarvercounty.org BEFORE you bring your Art to the Arts Center.  Our Volunteers rely on the information on your Label and the ART Intake Form to match exactly so we can sell your art.
Additional Directions: If you choose to fill in the PDF online vs printing a blank form, open the PDF, add your information, then choose Print. Instead of using your own printer (default), change the printer to “print to PDF”, then hit Print again, then you can SAVE the document to your device and attach it to an email and send it to us! Instructions may vary depending on your device.

ART Intake Form

STEP 5 – Label Your Work. For large wall art, please use our Artist Delivery Tag Template to create a label for your work. Attach the tag to your work before you bring it to the Center. Please use the same item number on the label that you supplied on the ART Intake Form so our Volunteers can easily identify your work at the checkout desk. Artist Delivery Tag Template PDF for download.
For small items like jewelry and pottery, be sure you have a professional-looking label/tag/sticker on every piece.
STEP 6 – Entry Fee.
If your Show/Exhibit has an Entry Fee, it was due at the time you submitted your work for participation in the Exhibit. If you have not paid your Entry Fee, please go to the original “Call for Artists” post for the Exhibit you are interested in. You will find the posts on our Exhibitions at Arts Center page.
The Exhibit post will also include your drop-off and pick-up times. Any work left at the Arts Center 30 days after an exhibit ends becomes the property of the ACCC.
Exhibits, Programs, and Events are coordinated by Volunteers. If you’d like to be on a committee, or you have specific questions about an exhibit, the gallery, or the Arts Center, please contact visualarts@artsofcarvercounty.org.
ACCC Arts Center Exhibits are promoted on our Exhibits page, via email to our subscribers, on our Facebook page, with postcards, and via other local media. We appreciate you sharing the Event materials with your clients, friends and family, professional and social networks, to make it as successful as possible.
Thank you and we look forward to receiving your submissions!

Artist Spotlight – Susan Coultrap-McQuin

Susan Coultrap-McQuin is a poet, retired educator, world traveler, and native prairie gardener. She is also a past ACCC Board Member and Volunteer. She continues to be active with our ACCC Literary Group!

Susan loves the challenge of writing poems that invite readers to see the world in new ways — from the smallest leaf to the largest cities. Her poems have appeared in journals such as the Talking Stick, The Moccasin, Songs of Eretz Poetry Review, and in recent pandemic anthologies, including Capsule Stories Isolation Edition, The ACCC Pandemic Arts Journal, and This Was 2020. She also finds time to help organize the annual poetry contest for the Arts Consortium of Carver County.

Susan is also pleased to announce the October publication of a new chapbook, What We Bring Home, by the Poetry Box Press, currently in pre-publication. In What We Bring Home, Susan reflects on what she has learned about herself and the world by venturing beyond American shores, first as a young Peace Corps Volunteer in the Philippines during the Vietnam War and years later as a tourist in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam.

Her elegantly crafted poems invite the reader to travel with her, to see anew the sights of Southeast Asia, and to confront the ambiguous truths of cross-cultural interactions. In image-rich poetry, Coultrap-McQuin ponders how history and culture have shaped her views and experiences. Like the souvenirs we bring home, these poems speak to the heart of who we are and why we venture to distant shores. For more information on the book and purchasing it please visit: thepoetrybox.com/bookstore/what-we-bring-home.

Micro encounters of Any Kind!
Join us for an open read on August 3rd at the Chaska Community Center as we focus on the smaller moments that happen in the world at large. Writers and poets are welcomed to write and read a small piece around the theme “micro encounters” as a tie-in with the Micro Mystery Tour gallery exhibit. What micro encounters – intimate, poignant, funny, etc. – spark your creativity? Any interested writers or poets are free to partake in this open read. Check out the ACCC website and social media pages for further information as we get closer to August.

  • October: Halloween themed open reading
  • November: National Author Day/NaNoWriMo kick off celebrations

Art Tourism News

Barn QuiltBaylor Park Barn Quilt

The Art Tourism Committee has been working with the County on a barn quilt for the Baylor Regional Park barn in Norwood Young America. This newest barn quilt will join the ever growing open air art gallery of 45+ barn quilts across the County. It is projected to be installed this summer. Carver County artist, Suzanne Theisfeld has designed the quilt.

The Arts Consortium and Art Tourism Committee had previously invited the public to participate in a naming contest to “name” this latest new barn quilt. The winner will be announced at the Taste of NYA on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at the Willkommen Memorial Park, in Norwood Young America.

Join us to hear the winning name and enjoy a night of food samples, giveaways, music, family friendly games and activities and more!

Elements of the quilt include maple leaves to represent the seasons and maple syrup production. Other elements represent park activities such as cross country skiing, the beach on Eagle Lake and the heavily used camp grounds.  The center image represents the popular Eagle Lake Observatory.  The cow is a symbol to the park’s agricultural history as a past working farm. Contact Janet Fahey, Art Tourism, arttourism@artsofcarvercounty.org to learn more.

Welcome Back Open Reading June 29

Welcome Back Open Reading

The Literary Committee of the Arts Consortium of Carver County invites you to join us for a “Welcome Back” Open Reading at the Chaska Community Center on June 29 at 7pm in the Theater of the Chaska Community Center.  Poets and Prose writers are invited to share their work at the open mic.  Please limit your selection(s) to 5 minutes in length in order to allow as many as possible to read. This is a good opportunity to read a recent publication, something you wrote last year, or a piece from a new book.

We have been separated for so long by the pandemic, we’d like to use this open reading as an opportunity to welcome each other back to in-person events.  A bonus of the evening will be the open ACCC gift shop and a chance to see the gallery exhibit Express Yourself in Purple in honor of Prince.
