Seeking ACCC Executive Director

Executive Director

The Arts Consortium of Carver County, MN (“ACCC”), is seeking qualified candidates for a part-time Executive Director role. This is an Independent Contractor position, working 20 hours per week within a flexible work schedule arrangement. 

The ACCC is a non-profit 501c3 organization bringing Arts to the Communities and Communities to the Arts.  In addition to our gift shop and gallery, we host many successful art fairs, music performances, festivals, art instruction, and literary events. We are located within the Chaska Community Center, in Chaska, MN.

The Executive Director is the key management leader of the ACCC and is responsible for overseeing the administration of operations, programming, strategic planning, and goal setting for the organization. Other key duties include fundraising, marketing, initiative, and community outreach. The position reports to and works in tandem with the Board of Directors.

 GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1)  Board Governance:  Works with the board in order to fulfill the ACCC’s mission.

  • Responsible for leading the ACCC in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
  • Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function efficiently and to make informed decisions.

2)   Financial Performance and Viability:  Develops sufficient resources to ensure the financial health of the organization.

  • Lead fundraising initiatives and develop necessary revenues to support the ACCC’s mission.
  • Responsible for the fiscal integrity of the ACCC, including submission to the Board, a proposed annual budget, and monthly financial statements which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.
  • Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensuring maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.

3)   Organization, Mission, and Strategy:  Works with board and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programming, strategic planning, and community outreach.

  • Responsible for implementation of the ACCC’s programs that carry out the organization’s mission.
  • Responsible for strategic planning and quarterly goals to ensure that the ACCC can successfully fulfill its Mission into the future.
  • Responsible for the enhancement of the ACCC’s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professionals, civic and private organizations, including coordinating efforts in all 11 cities in Carver County and deepening connections in all of the City Councils, and area organizations.

4)   Organizational Operations:  Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are appropriately managed.

  • Responsible for managing all contracted vendors.  Also responsible for the onboarding, training, and retention of competent, qualified member volunteers.  
  • Responsible for the effective administration of the ongoing ACCC operations.
  • Responsible for monitoring all contractual agreements, and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization.

 

Actual Job Responsibilities

  1. Report to and work closely with the President and Executive team of, and the Board of Directors to seek their involvement in policy decisions, fundraising and to increase the overall visibility of the organization.
  2. Collaborate with organization staff and volunteers.
  3. Strategic planning and implementation along with goal setting.
  4. Planning and operation of the annual budget.
  5. Serve as ACCC’s primary spokesperson to the organization’s constituents, the media, and the general public.
  6. Establish, maintain and utilize relationships with various city, county, and community organizations, ACCC members, and volunteers and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance ACCC’s Mission. 
  7. Expand local revenue-generating fundraising activities to support operational programming and regional expansion.
  8. Deepen, refine and oversee all aspects of communications and marketing – from a web presence, print marketing, public news media, and event promotions to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand.  
  9. Oversee website administration and work closely to promote and move the ACCC’s public image in a forward direction.
  10. Build presence and external relationships to garner new opportunities for the ACCC’s growth plan.
  11. Design and complete a strategic business planning process for program expansion into new markets.
  12.  Attend and oversee the organization’s Board and committee meetings.
  13. Establish administrative policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operations within the ACCC.
  14. Review and approve contracts for services and present to the Board.
  15. Utilize effective data-driven systems to track progress, and regularly evaluate and measure successes of program components to be shared with the board, funders, etc.
  16.  Other duties collaboratively agreed upon by the Board of Directors.

 

Professional Qualifications Needed   

  • A Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in non-profits.
  • Transparent and high integrity leadership.
  • Three or more years of nonprofit management experience.
  • Past experience working with a board of directors and the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships.
  • High-level strategic thinking and planning. Ability to envision and convey the organization’s strategic future to the staff, board, volunteers, and donors.
  • Ability to effectively communicate the organization’s mission to donors, members, volunteers, and the overall community.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to oversee and collaborate with staff, volunteers, and members.
  • A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results through data-driven analysis.
  • Active fundraising experience. Excellent donor relations skills and understanding of the funding community and finding untapped resources.
  • Previous success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of influence including funders, partner agencies, volunteers, members, and community.
  • Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making, and reporting.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
  • Passion for the Arts, idealism, integrity, and positive attitude, mission-driven and self-directed.
  • Strong public speaking ability.
  • Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, delegate and facilitate team building within the organization.
  • Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven evaluation.
  • Actively engage and energize ACCC’s volunteers, board members, event committees, alumni, partnering organizations, and funders.
  • Develop, maintain and support a strong board of directors: serve as ex-officio of each committee, seek and build involvement with strategic direction for both ongoing and local operations.
