Mini Barn Quilt Tours During ArtStock

ArtStock Art & Wine Festival 2017
Barn Quilt Tours!

The Arts Consortium of Carver County (“ACCC”) presents its 7th annual Art and Wine Festival – ArtStock, hosted at Parley Lake Winery, in Waconia, MN. The vineyard is nestled in some of Minnesota’s most beautiful countryside, showcasing historic farms and beautiful barn quilts.
While at ArtStock, individuals can hop aboard a mini coach tour bus, as we start our 1 ½ hour tour to see eight (8) barn quilts. Made for barns, not beds, “barn quilts” are quilt patterns, drawn to scale and painted on wooden panels that are hung on exterior walls of historic barns. We’ll start at Deardorff Orchards, who shares their barn with Parley Lake Winery and is home to the first barn quilt in Carver County. Here we’ll learn about the orchards, their operations and some of the heritage of their land.

You’ll also visit an organic farmer’s market, appropriately named, “At The Farm”, hosting five barn quilts on their barn and shed. While there, enjoy viewing and shopping in the unique produce store in the renovated and restored barn, or strolling through the beautiful farm yard viewing antique displays, floral gardens and being greeted by “the girls”, hens that freely roam and visit among guests. Meet Donna, the proprietor and garden expert!

There’s more! You’ll also visit the historic Andrew Peterson Farmstead. Here, you’ll not only see another barn quilt, but learn about this notable immigrant farm family. First settled in the 1800’s, this historic barn and quilt pattern reflects a preservation of an original Swedish homestead. The land and barn are now part of the Carver County Historical Society, preserving Swedish history for years to come.

Each tour guest will receive a complimentary professionally photographed Barn Quilt Tour pamphlet and post card. Upon returning to the winery, guests will also receive a 10% discount card to be used towards the purchase of the exclusive private labeled “Barn Quilt Red” wine and 20% off Barn Quilt Treasures coffee mugs.

Event Location
Parley Lake Winery is located at 8350 Parley Lake Road, Waconia, MN 55387.

The Barn Quilt Tour route will be in the immediate Waconia area surrounding Parley Lake Winery.
