Xavier TaveraThe Sower Gallery – Opening Reception – Xavier Tavera

Juxtaposing Latino immigrant farm workers with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of western European immigrants, Xavier Tavera’s art challenges viewers to look closely at their own perceptions and biases—and to see the shared humanity of all people. This show will feature fifteen 24″ x 32″ photographs framed and exhibited on easels, created and produced by Xavier Tavera and Dougie Padilla. Join us at this opening reception to meet the artist and producer, enjoy light refreshments, and experience the growing arts community in Chaska.

Women's Voices at Sower Gallery

Call for Artists and Writers – Women’s Voices

“Women’s Voices” at Sower Gallery is a show to lift up women’s experiences at this time in history. The show will include art by women, and writing by both men and women. An Artist’s Reception will be held on Saturday April 21st, from 7-9 PM.

For women: As we consider the climate of rapidly growing awareness about those things which we women understand and want to have understood about ourselves, submissions of art or writing should convey a message about what is significant to you as a woman at this time in our culture.

For men (allies with women in these times): women believe they know your heart and want to hear from you through your writing.

VISUAL ART: We are calling women artists of all ages to submit 2D and 3D works in any media for this inter-generational show. The number of submissions of art per artist is limited to 4, due to sharing gallery wall space in the show with writers.

WRITING: Submissions will be accepted of flash fiction, essay, reflections, memoir, and poetry, word limit 200. Please submit work electronically using Calibri, 20 pt. for readability, as accepted work will be displayed on walls and/or easels.
