Join Us!

Come share an evening of prose and poetry celebrating our winter holidays, whether it is Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Solstice, New Year’s or other holidays. Bring family and friends for an evening in the Arts Center in Victoria listening to pieces written by our local authors as they explore experiences and feelings.

If you are a writer yourself, please bring two or three short pieces to share in a round-robin format.

We will have holiday treats to eat and the Holiday Gift Show will be open to browse. We look forward to seeing you!

Listeners might hear a piece debating “Happy Holidays” versus “Merry Christmas,” warm poetic recollections or even this, from an Army veteran: I spent Christmas Eve 1969 in a below-ground sleeping hooch with mortar shells raining down on our firebase. Three other men huddled with me, and I have to confess it was impossible in those moments to embrace “Peace on earth, good will towards men.” One heavy shell exploded very close, knocking a music box my wife had sent me off the little shelf above my cot. It began playing “Silent Night,” an enormous incongruity as we waited for the next blast. It never came, as though divine command had interceded. We sat there amazed, listening to that tinkling box. And it was exactly what each one of us needed to hear.

House Concert December 15, 2018

Saturday, December 15th the Arts Consortium of Carver County (ACCC) is sponsoring a House Concert featuring Clark Machtemes, his band Traveled Ground and protégé, Jenn Bostic. Last year, Jenn won the BCMA (British Country Music Association) award – International Touring Artist. This year she’s been nominated for both International Song of the Year and International Album of the Year.

The ACCC is taking this opportunity to introduce these outstanding songwriter-musicians to the metro-wide music market. This celebration is being sponsored by the Arts Consortium of Carver County and hosted by Charlson Meadows, a private Foundation in Victoria, MN, in their grand, brand new Nancy Nelson Lake House. 

Concert starts at 7pm, doors open at 6pm, allowing guests time to wander around the Nancy Nelson Lake House, see the various rooms and learn a little bit about the history of Charlson Meadows.

Art Wander is fast approaching. Wander the countryside of Carver County and visit the Artists during the 2018 Open Studio Tour. September 21-23, 2018

From Potters to Weavers, Painters and Illustrators, Stained Glass Artists, Woodworkers, Sculptors and Jewelers, come visit our many talented artists.
Share their excitement in welcoming you into their homes and studios, demonstrating their techniques and having the products of their creativity
available for you to take home, share as gifts or use as inspiration. You can find the 2018 Art Wander Brochures at Unearthed Arts Gallery in Waconia, all three Mocha Monkey locations, the ACCC Arts Center in Victoria and Re/Max Advisors West in Chaska. They will also be available at all studios during the tour or you can download the brochure by going to the website, artwander.com
