Integrated Arts Academy Youth Show and Artists’ Reception Jan 9
Enjoy the creative designs of student art from Integrated Arts Academy in District 112. Integrated Arts Academy is a public high school located in Chaska, founded on research linking academic success to the arts and hands-on learning experiences. Their curriculum embeds culinary, horticulture, visual arts, and floral and textile design into core subjects such as math, science, English, and social studies. The rich arts-integrated instruction, small school size (~125 students grades 9-12), and strong community partnerships offer students a true personalized high school education. The show runs January 8-31.
Join us for the Artists’ Reception on Thursday, January 9th from 6:30-8:30pm to meet the student artists and find out the secrets behind the art. Everyone is invited. Savor light appetizers and beverages as you enjoy the music and art of the evening. Free to attend.

We are looking for your Interpretations of Portraits and Family at the ACCC Gallery.

Literary Arts
On Dec. 5 the Literary Arts Committee hosted Writers Read Their Books. We had a more formal agenda than usual, introducing each author and giving them time to tell us about their books and read a “tantalizing” passage. It was great fun to hear from such a variety of authors. Those who presented included Sarah Collins, Barb Hone, Jim Kane, Sheri Kramer, April Munson, Doug Munson, Dan O’Brien, and Heidi Skarie. The writers were very pleased to sell quite a few books. For those who missed out, their books will still be available for sale in the new year.
As the new year begins, we wish to remind everyone to consider entering the Flash Fiction Contest (deadline Jan. 31) and the Poetry Contest (deadline March 1). The committee has also completed planning for 2020 events. Our schedule will include 2 collaborative activities: one with the visual artists and one with musicians. Watch for more details about these exciting opportunities in the new year. Happy New Year to all.
