Chaska Student Recognized Nationally for Artwork

Congratulations to Regan Kerfeld, Chaska High School Sophomore, who has earned a National Gold Key Award for her mixed media artwork. The recognition comes by way of a Scholastic Art and Writing Award from the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers.  This award has been presented to the likes of Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Richard Avedon, Andy Warhol, and Joyce Carol Oates over the years.  Regan is one of only seven students from Minnesota to earn this honor! She is also the only one from Minnesota to earn it in the category of painting. This is a rare accomplishment and one that speaks to the quality and importance of the arts and arts education in our county. Regan’s art work will be on display in New York City and she will be invited to a ceremony on May 31 in NYC to celebrate. Congratulations to Regan and Chaska High School art teacher, Lucy LeMay!
